In a statement from Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Indonesia decided to ban coal exports for a month, from January 1 to January 31, 2022, so as to ease the current tight supply of coal and ensure the availability of coal inventories for the demand of domestic power plants.
Indonesia will resume exporting if the coal supply for power plants is sufficient or goes back to normal levels. It will review the coal export ban after assessing the inventory of the local power plants.
