Brazil’s steel bar exports hike, imports drop in Nov m-o-m

According to statistics from the Brazil Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC), Brazil’s steel bar exports amounted to 102,000 tons in November, rising by 47.6% compared to the previous month and up by 41.4% from the same month a year ago.
In the first 11 months of this year, Brazil’s steel bar exports had a year-on-year drop of 5.3% to roughly 804,400 tons. Among them, the exports to Argentina accounted for 21% of the total, followed by the US and Bolivia’s 20%, separately.
In terms of imports, Brazil imported roughly 54,500 tons of steel bar in November, a month-on-month decrease of 41.6% and a year-on-year hike of nearly 58%.
The imports in the January-November period amounted to around 886,500 tons, surging by 272% year on year, of which Turkey occupied the largest proportion, 33% of the total volume.
