According to the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD), Turkey’s crude steel output totaled 3.5 million tons in August this year, which grew by 7.1% compared to the same month a year ago, hitting the highest monthly output and maintaining Turkey’s position as the seventh-largest crude steel producer in the world.
TCUD said that Turkey's crude steel output is likely to reach 40 million tons by the end of this year. China, whose steel output accounts for 60% of the global production, has started to cut its production and leave its current production in the domestic market in order to achieve its goal of carbon emission reductions.
In the first eight months of this year, Turkey’s crude steel production amounted to 26.6 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 16.7%.
