Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL), a steel and energy company in India, said that its steel production was up by 6% year on year to 660,000 tons in August, and the sales volume also had a year-on-year increase of 4% to 710,000 tons. Both the production and sales performed well despite the monsoon in August resulting in weak activities in the construction sector.

V.R. Sharma, JSPL's managing director, said that the Indian domestic demand will rebound greatly once the monsoon season ends. Coupled with the Indian government’s promotion of infrastructure projects, the steel mills in India were expected to benefit from the growth in steel demand.
