JSW Steel, the largest integrated steel manufacturer in India, announced last week that it will cut its steel production and divert industrial oxygen to medical for the worsening COVID-19 epidemic in India.

The amount of the reduced production hasn’t been disclosed. The actual output may be announced in the new quarterly financial report.

Some Indian large steelmakers have already supplied or expressed their willingness to divert oxygen to COVID-19 patients. Saving lives is more important than producing steel, said JSW Steel.

JSW Steel promised to continue to shrink its steel production capacity and keep providing medical liquid oxygen for the treatment of COVID-19.
