According to statistics from Japan Customs, Japan exported around 1.14 million tons of scrap in the first two months of this year, significantly dropping by 26% compared to the same period a year ago.
Among them, the exports to Vietnam accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 423,000 tons, followed by South Korea’s 407,700 tons.
It was believed that the decrease in Japan’s scrap exports in January-February was due to high scrap prices and the domestic strong demand for scrap in Japan.
