Mitsubishi Corp. to buy interest in Australian bauxite

Japan’s Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) announced on March 18 that it has reached an agreement with Glencore plc. for the acquisition of 30% interest in the Aurukun bauxite project in Australia.
It was MC’s first time to invest in bauxite mining besides its existing businesses in aluminum smelting and trading.
The investment amount wasn’t disclosed. The annual production was expected to be around 8 million tons.
