Turkey’s billet imports hike in Jan

According to statistics from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the country imported around 173,700 tons of billet and bloom in January, rising by 111.8% compared to the previous month and also hiking by 1.6% from the same month a year ago. Among them, the imports from Russia accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 124,400 tons, a year-on-year increase of 2.34%; followed by Ukraine with around 27,800 tons, sliding by 24.3% year on year. During the period, the import value reached roughly US$92.6 million, up by 123.5% from last month and 26.3% year on year.
