The global mining company Rio Tinto posted its consolidated sales revenue of US$54 billion for 2023, down by 3% compared to 2022. The decrease was mainly due to weak commodity prices and sluggish demand in China.

In 2023, the net profit fell by 19% year on year to US$10.1 billion owing to decreased prices of aluminum and copper, and underlying EPS was US$7.25, compared to US$8.24 a year ago.

At the same time, the company’s bauxite output totaled 54.6 million tons, keeping flat year on year. Alumina output also maintained stable year on year at 7.54 million tons, and primary aluminum output grew by 9% year on year to 3.27 million tons.
